With the introduction of the budget-friendly MacBook Neo line, Apple is projected to surpass Dell to become the world's third-largest laptop manufacturer in 2026.

Apple is making a bold strategic move to expand its footprint in the global laptop market. Rather than focusing exclusively on its traditional high-end segment, the tech giant is making an aggressive push into the mainstream market with its latest MacBook Neo lineup.

According to a report from market research firm Sigmaintell, the debut of the MacBook Neo is expected to propel Apple's sales to record highs. Forecasts indicate Apple will sell approximately 28 million units this year, marking an increase of 5 million units compared to 2025.

At this trajectory, Apple is projected to overtake Dell, claiming the number three position among the world's largest laptop manufacturers by the end of 2026. Currently, the company trails only two industry heavyweights: Lenovo (with a projected 43 million units) and HP (36 million units).

With a starting price of just $600, the figure comes as a shock to competitors. In terms of hardware, experts describe the machine as akin to an "iPhone 16 Pro housed in a laptop shell." The device boasts a premium chassis design and a high-quality display, all at an exceptionally accessible price point.

This product is designed to appeal to consumers seeking a stylish device with reliable performance on a tight budget. In anticipation of strong consumer demand, Apple has proactively increased production to 10 million units.

A key factor enabling Apple to maintain its competitive edge is its Unified Memory Architecture. This technology allows components to share a single pool of RAM, significantly enhancing operational efficiency. Amid broader market concerns regarding component shortages and price hikes, Apple appears notably unbothered.

Furthermore, developing its own proprietary processors—independent of Intel or AMD—grants the company complete control over manufacturing costs and production schedules. This autonomy allows Apple to maintain a stable supply chain and optimize profit margins, even within its budget-friendly product lines.

According to an assessment by PC Gamer, Apple currently occupies an enviable position. The company has successfully rounded out its product portfolio, ranging from the mainstream Neo series to the premium Pro models, catering to a diverse demographic from students to creative professionals.

"Apple is in a dream position with a product ecosystem that fills every market segment," PC Gamer emphasized.

Only time will tell if these forecasted figures will materialize, but for now, the future looks exceptionally bright for the tech giant.
