With a clinical brace against Uzbekistan, Cristiano Ronaldo has officially surpassed Eusebio to become Portugal's all-time leading goalscorer in World Cup history.

Cristiano Ronaldo shone in the match against Uzbekistan

In the early hours of June 24, Ronaldo etched his name even deeper into Portuguese football folklore by setting yet another historic milestone. Finding the back of the net twice against Uzbekistan in their Group K clash, the 41-year-old forward took his overall World Cup tally to 10 goals, officially eclipsing the legendary Eusebio’s record of 9 goals that had stood for decades.

The feat not only cements Ronaldo's status as the ultimate marksman for the Seleção on the grandest stage but also extends his unprecedented personal record of scoring in six consecutive World Cups (spanning 2006 to 2026). This is a monumental achievement untouched by any other player in the history of the sport.

Despite being 41, the Portuguese captain continues to defy father time, maintaining elite physical condition and a remarkable goalscoring efficiency. With his latest goals, Ronaldo maintains his status as the second-oldest goalscorer in World Cup history, sitting just behind Cameroon icon Roger Milla.

As for the match itself, Roberto Martínez’s side faced little resistance, cruising to a dominant 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan. The win temporarily propels Portugal to the top of Group K, with Colombia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo yet to play their match.
