Mbappe Disillusioned

Real Madrid is facing a second consecutive trophyless season following a 2-0 defeat to Barcelona in Matchday 35 of La Liga during the early hours of May 11. In the aftermath of the match, Spanish media disclosed emerging internal doubts at Real Madrid regarding the attacking synergy between Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior.

Mbappe is going through a difficult period at Real Madrid

Throughout this season, the squad has continued to expose distinct tactical vulnerabilities in their gameplay execution with the French forward in the lineup. Several observers suggest that Real Madrid’s tactical framework has failed to find its balance since Mbappe joined the club in the summer of 2024.

Technical analyses indicate that the Mbappe-Vinicius partnership has not generated the cohesive impact anticipated by the club's board. Journalist Anton Meana noted that Mbappe's integration process has been far less seamless than initially projected.

Furthermore, some teammates have reportedly acknowledged a lack of fluidity within the team's overall structure. Rather than forging an overwhelming offensive frontline, accommodating both elite forwards has presented the coaching staff with a complex dilemma in their efforts to maintain team stability.

Real Madrid is currently striving to find tactical solutions that will allow the duo to maximize their individual capabilities. The coaching staff is prioritizing adjustments to their personnel strategies during training sessions in a bid to swiftly rectify the situation.

Notably, Real Madrid has ended up empty-handed in both seasons featuring Mbappe. Should the current trajectory fail to improve, Mbappe risks being cemented as a transfer flop at the Bernabeu.
