Manchester United are closing in on a deal to sign midfielder Éderson from Atalanta during the 2026 summer transfer window.

Ederson could be Manchester United's first signing this summer

According to Sky Sports, negotiations between the two clubs have entered the final stages, with both parties reportedly on the verge of reaching an agreement. United are expected to expend approximately £38 million total on the deal, which comprises a £35 million upfront transfer fee and £3 million in add-ons. The valuation is considered highly reasonable for a player who has established himself as one of Serie A's most consistent central midfielders over recent seasons.

Éderson has also agreed to personal terms with the Old Trafford outfit. The Brazilian midfielder has reportedly paused talks with other suitor clubs to focus entirely on completing his switch to the Premier League. A long-term contract between the two parties now awaits only the final formalities before being officially signed.

Barring any last-minute complications, the transfer could be officially announced as early as this week. Éderson is poised to become Michael Carrick’s first signing since the English manager took the reins at Old Trafford.

United's prioritization of the Brazilian underscores a clear intent to reinforce their midfield options ahead of the upcoming campaign. The 27-year-old is renowned for his robust physicality, aggressive tackling, and dynamic work rate—qualities expected to inject greater balance and stability into the Red Devils' engine room.

Following a successful 2025/26 season that secured a return to the Champions League, United are signaling strong ambitions to accelerate their squad rebuild under Carrick's stewardship.
