Sky Mavis, the parent company of Axie Infinity, has announced that it will shift its full focus toward developing the free-to-play version titled Origin.

Game Axie Infinity
According to the plan, Sky Mavis will shut down Axie Infinity Classic (also known as Axie Infinity V2) following the end of the game's 21st season, which concluded on June 24th.
Recently, Axie Infinity announced it would close the "Classic" version to concentrate on developing the free-to-play "Origin" version. After the shutdown, Sky Mavis will continue to develop the free-to-play Axie Infinity Origin to "maximize its full potential."

Axie Infinity Origin will give players 3 free "characters" to try out
The closure of the "Classic" version comes at a time when user activity in Axie Infinity has significantly declined. Currently, the daily player count for the "world's largest" play-to-earn game stands at 10,000 units—only a tiny fraction compared to the more than 1 million players during the game's peak in mid-2021.
